My brother-in-law sent me an old tattered image of his great-grandfather and his family.  He asked if it were possible to restore it and so I took it to task.  It did take some time to put his great-grandmothers chin back on and patch all the missing areas where the paper had worn.  But, the result was much better than I imagined.Read More →

Make sure to do ample research before you book your holiday destination. Don’t rely on their website or pictures. We thought we would be at the far end of hotel strip in Cancun. We are at a little quiet resort on Pok-Ta-Pok  Ave which is roughly a 20 minute taxi. This picture is at the Westin. Wish I were there. But in defense of our little resort… The room is nice. Pool is clean. Everything is very clean. The staff is friendly. And the F&B prices very reasonable. Coral Mar is perfect for a quiet get away. It all depends on what you are lookingRead More →

Last week Gus and I went to the Arizona BBQ Festival and enjoyed some great tastings.  There were BBQ tents and portable kitchens set up throughout the Salt River Fields in Scottsdale.  One of the best features of the event were the chef demos held throughout the day.  I attended two demos; the first being Chef Stephen Jones of Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails.  Each chef was to demonstrate how to make some type of “road kill”.  Chef Stephen chose an appetizer of  Frog Legs and it was delicious.  Since meeting him and a short conversation, I decided to also check out the restaurants website andRead More →

While in New York City…  I [LOVE] New York City.   I had the luck to come across four young street dancers who entertained the crowd for quite some time.  The young lady to the left and the tall Michael Jackson type in the center were the highlights of the group with their sharp stepping and quick feet.  I don’t think the little lady in red ever lost the big infectious smile on her face.  I found myself clapping and smiling just a broadly.
