Schilthorn Adventure

One of my first trips to Europe was exploring Switzerland with two of my best friends, R&M. They are Swiss born and took us to several fantastic locations, one being the Bernese Alps. This picture was taken from the summit as we were waiting for another cablecar to take our trip back down from the overlook to the village below .  We were very lucky that it was a clearer than normal day and the Schilthorn Eiger peak was quite visible.  I think it’s Eiger from looking at other images.  Let me know if I need corrected. 🙂

Schilthorn2

It was a clearer than usual day for viewing Eiger.

A little information about the Schilthorn from Google Wikipedia; “The Schilthorn is a 2,970 metre high summit of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is the highest mountain in the range lying north of the Sefinenfurgge Pass.”

Lets talk about the two sides of me. I am a Gemini just so you know. The first side of me is the cooking and entertaining part. This is a major part of my life and I wouldn't be fulfilled without it. Of course, we all have to eat, but the main part of cooking for me is entertaining and sharing fun and flavorful foods with great friends. Dinner parties, happy hours and well, most anything to do with food is where I begin to enjoy. My other side, the artsy side is a craving for art, painting and photography. Maybe this is my Gemini left side of the brain?? Since starting to write a Blog I've picked back up what hubby calls my big ass camera and started carting it around again. He’s always afraid I will ask him to carry it. I keep thinking that when I retire (?#&*!!!) that I will have time to read all the photography books in my library and become a superb photographer. Wishful thinking.

Funny though… I wasn’t 100% positive but think it is. I had to look at a map of the mountains online to see if it was what I remembered. 🙂

Love this photo, Karen! One of my favorite movies from many years ago is “The Eiger Sanction” with Clint Eastwood. Amazing to see it up close here.

It was a little hair razing to get up there but well worth it.
