Scott Cawley and Pam Contes, our good friends,  really know how to throw a sweet customer appreciation party at their specialty hot rod showroom in Gilbert Arizona appropriately named Steel Dreamz.   The Greek and I were there earlier this week for their happy hours celebration.  This was Scott and Pam’s prelude to the hottest week of car auctions in the Scottsdale Arizona area; Russo Steele and Barrett-Jackson Car Auctions.   Steel Dreamz have several of their best cars up for auction in the Russo Steele Auction that is this week in Scottsdale.

If you are looking for that perfect sport car, hot rod or muscle car or if you would like someone for a consignment of your own muscle car then send an email to Pam at pmcontes@hotmail.com for more information.  She knows muscle cars!

The showroom is strategically appointed with muscle cars, auto memorabilia and a diner style loft above the courtesy bar.  It has the look and feel of a night club as much as a hot rod showroom.   The cars range from the very affordable for the newbie buying their first muscle car to the seasoned collector looking for that special treasure.

The season was coming to a close and the hummingbirds have grown a lot.  They are just about ready to leave the nest and mom bird is not around much anymore.   I opened up my window in the kitchen and rigged a platform to stand on so that I could get closer pictures of the birds this time.   Watching the birds grow and thrive was a delight.  I was sad to see when they finally left the nest, but was glad to get my barbecue back.  After they left, I removed the nest so that they would find another place the next season.

These tiny little bitty hummingbirds hatched directly over my barbecue one season.  I couldn’t bring myself to remove them so there was no use of the barbecue so it sat there, idle.. cold and neglected for at least several months.

It was such a pleasure to watch momma bird bring them their meals and feed them several times a day.  We were able to watch from right inside my home from a big kitchen window.  These pictures were taken outside with me perched on a chair and I was surprised that the mom let me get so close without freaking out.

I Love Chicken Cordon Bleu and this is one of the best from BigOven.com.  I’ve made it several times and it always is delicious.  Looks as great as it tastes.

I wish I could take credit for the recipe but not. I do love it!!  It was submitted by Ellie36.  Over 8,000 people have said they want to make it and over 11,000 have it in their BigOven favorites.

Captain Stuart's famous Pain Killer

While stopping for a swim and at anchor along the Viceroy (a time share resort) on our first day sail to road bay Anguilla,  Stuart, our captain made us up some of the best Pain Killer Cocktails ever.  We also enjoyed a lovely spread of appetizers which will be in a different post.

You have got to try this delectable desert like drink and the secret to the recipe is the nutmeg topper.  It is rich and creamy like a robust Pina Colada but much better.  Stuart and Jenny are top-notch and I submit my vote for the best Captain’s and First Mate of the Festiva Sailing Fleet if not for their fine hospitality and vibrant smiles, then just for the great cocktails alone.  The Greek and I hope you enjoy the recipe for Pain Killer Rum Cocktail.

Pain Killer Cocktail
Fill blender with Crushed Ice
1 can Coco Lopez
1 cup Orange juice
1 small can pineapple juice
Caribbean Rum to taste!! (Try Captain Morgan for great spices)
garnish each cocktail with ground nutmeg

Add crushed ice to blender, then the remaining ingredients, except nutmeg.  Run blender at the appropriate mix speed on your blender to crush ice and mix drinks.  Immediately pour into chilled glasses.  Sprinkle nutmeg lightly on top of drink.  Add straw and serve.

I was surprised to see this photo opp just inside a store at Caesar’s Palace Mall in Las Vegas.  Since the store was much pricier than I could afford I snuck a shot from just outside the store.   I zoomed in with my iPhone to snap the shot. The sexy gal is like a mannequin in front of a aircraft fighter plane backdrop.

A few years ago, the Greek and I visited an airplane museum outside of Tucson AZ and some of the older airplanes sported images just like this on the exterior of the fighter planes.  What guy wouldn’t want this tattoo on their arm… or at least on their fighter jet?

Had some fun with Photoshop tonight.  Multiple color adjustments using masking, polygonal lasso tool, magnetic lasso tool, and multiple layers.  Then after reading a tutorial from Leanne Cole, I added a watermark signature and scaled down the image size so that it is more web friendly. Thanks, Leanne, for the tips!
