This is not the furry Cat you’re thinking about. It’s a fine sailing yacht. Now, my hubby Gus would be fine with the sailing but if he were faced with the feline cat that could be an issue. We won’t go there though. Instead.. lets talk about the water gliding Cat… felines don’t like water.
Our Cat set sale from the British Virgin Islands which are in the Caribbean just east of Puerto Rico and makes it a fairly easy trip for us from Arizona. BVI is located in the northeastern Caribbean and are known for their beauty and calm waters. There are a multitude of excellent anchorages and off the beaten route islands. I’m alway talking the captain into letting me take over after we have set sail and then attempt to tack the ship.
While on our Catamaran tip which departed from Nanny Cay, we spent the week exploring the islands of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. During mid-day stops we would usually anchor at a remote Cay for a light lunch, snorkel or walk along a beach.
The pictures below are from the Baths in Virgin Gorda. First, you take the small dinghy to the main cove and gingerly step out into shallow waves specifically designed to knock you on your butt. After emptying your suit of the sand you’ve gather your senses and continue to make our way to the beach. From there you work your way through dense trees and then into cave like groups of boulder while using scaling ropes to reach the warm baths. It’s worth every moment and grain of sand that was imbedded on my fanny.
Our hosts are Festiva Sailing Vacations and these are featured images from their website. We began sailing with Festiva when the first hit the waters in 2005 or 2006 visiting The Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxy’s and The Willie T while in the BVI. We’ve been enjoying their vacations ever since.
